Friends continued...

So I was saying, you get to really know these people who are up front figures... Whether they are a pastor, a TV personality, a singer or whomever they are. You do know them to some degree because of their lyric or their public presence. When you are introduced to them you really want to have an exchange but aren't permitted to because they don't know you from Adam. It is strange.

The thing we can learn is that we know God from afar because of his reputation and this wonderful creation that we live in. We can also know him in a two way exchange. There is no reason for us to not know him. He can be known through his word and the personal exchange that happens with the Holy Spirit.

I'm just blabbing but these are some important things for us to remember. A man or a woman is never sufficient to take a place of total prominence in our hearts. Only God can fill a place of preeminence because only he is big enough to respond. A celebrity can't respond to every well-wisher or fan. God is big enough in stature to receive our praise while he is also big enough to respond to our praise and truly appreciate what we have to offer.

Bob Bennet fire UPDATE...

Thankfully, the fret fire was put out before we had a full scale sprinkler maylay. There was nothing anyone could do but gape in wonder at how one man could make a guitar catch fire (especially when you consider how long it took Tom Hanks to start one in the movie "Castaway").

ALERT: Bob Bennett shreds fretboard!

Nothing like it has happened in the small fishing community of Ketchikan, Alaska. Like lightening out of a clear sky, Bob Bennett (singer, songwriter, guitar player) made his guitar start crying in pain for mercy. Bob was performing Saturday, February 21st in the Ketchikan High School auditorium when the audience noticed his guitar caught fire fromt he extreme stress that Bob's left fingers were putting on the neck. More to come...

Bob Bennett and Barry McGuire

The concert came off great. It's funny, I've listened to Bob for so many years that he has become a friend. I'll acknowledge that it's a bit one sided, but never-the-less he's a friend. It's funny how that works. More later...

After experiencing some trouble...

I found out that blogger has been having some publishing trouble lately... that explains the drought.

Line of Sight

I find it so hard to keep my eyes on the right things sometimes. It is a total cliche, but I get my eyes off of my true goal way too much. How much energy do we expend on stuff that is a total waste? I want my vision to be a productive vision... to hold closely to Jesus and "fix my eyes on Jesus" like Hebrews says.

Admiration

I guess it's ok for big brothers to look up to little brothers, right?! Brady you the man.

Beautiful

When it's cold and clear in Ketchikan it is one of the most beautiful places on earth.
